EDUCAST, The Korean Educational Consultancy Association Nepal (KECAN) recently organized a special interaction and comprehensive member gathering to discuss contemporary issues and challenges faced by consultancy professionals. Held at the Himalayan Restro & Events in Hattisar under the chairmanship of KECAN President Bishnu Khadka, the event delved into serious discussions regarding recent government actions against consultancies, renewal processes, and the challenges posed by illegal counseling services.

Action Against Illegal Consultancies and the Federation’s Role

Speaking at the program, President Bishnu Khadka informed attendees that the government’s recent crackdown on illegally operating consultancies was initiated based on efforts and applications submitted by the Federation itself. He clarified that during the Federation’s extended meetings in Dhulikhel and Kavre, as well as several subsequent meetings, a unanimous decision had already been passed to take strict action against those engaging in illegal activities.

Furthermore, President Khadka emphasized that providing “Student Counseling” for Korea via social media while residing in Korea is completely illegal. He strongly advised students and parents not to put their futures at risk by following such unauthorized counselors. He also urged the government to look into this matter immediately and bring those involved in such activities under legal scrutiny.

Opposition to the Deposit System and Demand for Renewal Relief

President Khadka expressed strong opposition and objections to the deposit system that the government intends to introduce in the educational consultancy sector. Citing examples from various countries where cash deposits are not required for consultancy businesses, he maintained a firm stance against this policy.

Additionally, the association demanded that Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) should not be allowed in the educational consultancy sector. It also called for increased surveillance on unregistered foreign-run organizations operating under the pretext of sending students abroad for MBBS programs.

Focusing on the welfare of entrepreneurs, President Khadka demanded that the government provide a one-time renewal opportunity for businesses that missed their registration renewal during the first year. This, he noted, would allow professionals to run their businesses confidently without fear or anxiety. He also shared that a “Special Task Force” will soon be formed in coordination with eight other associations under the Federation.

    Solidarity and Recommendations from Leadership

During the gathering, KECAN Senior Vice President Ramesh Adhikari welcomed the positive initiatives taken by the Federation so far. Vice President Shashi Prasad Bhattarai advised all consultancies to remain restrained, alert, and to keep all their legal documents well-maintained and up to date in the current situation.

Similarly, Immediate Past President Ganesh Sharma praised and thanked KECAN for its progress and active initiatives. The program was emceed by General Secretary Pramod Dhungana. All attending members expressed their solidarity and commitment to moving forward unitedly for the welfare of the association and the security of business professionals.
