    KATHMANDU:

Dean Thompson, the newly appointed US Ambassador to Nepal, has arrived in Kathmandu. A week after Ambassador Randy Berry returned home after completing his four-year tenure, newly appointed Ambassador Thompson arrived in Nepal.

According to the American Embassy in Kathmandu, on Thursday, Ambassador Thompson of Nepal IPUG will submit his credential in a few days. Ambassador Thompson will spend the next few days getting used to the new environment and meeting with the American mission family in Nepal, according to the US Embassy. After that, Ambassador Thompson will present his credentials to the President.

Ambassador Berry has been appointed US Ambassador to Namibia. He returned home last Sunday after completing his four-year tenure. Before returning to the country on Sunday, he wrote on social media and said, “I am very grateful to have had the privilege of having a chapter in my life story about the history of the relationship between Nepalis and Americans.” “I will always be grateful for the many moments of love, friendship and hospitality that I have personally experienced from here.”

Last Friday, Thompson was sworn in as the newly appointed US Ambassador to Nepal. Thompson was sworn in by US Deputy Secretary of State Wendy R. Sherman.

Thompson was previously the Deputy Assistant Secretary for the US Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs. Thompson has more than 25 years of experience working in US diplomacy, with an eye on US policy and relations with countries in the region. He also worked as the Deputy Chief of Mission at the American Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
