EDUCAST, The Embassy of Bangladesh in Nepal, in collaboration with the Bangladesh Private Medical College Association (BPMCA), successfully organized the “Bangladesh Medical Education Fair 2026” in Kathmandu. The event was held on Saturday, February 15, 2026 (Magh 3, 2082 BS) at The Everest Hotel, New Baneshwor, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

The fair witnessed the participation of representatives from more than 20 reputed private medical and dental colleges of Bangladesh. Nepali students and their guardians had the opportunity to interact directly with college delegates and obtain first-hand information regarding admission procedures, eligibility criteria, academic programs, tuition fees, scholarships, accommodation facilities, and student life in Bangladesh.

Addressing the inaugural session, H.E. Mr. Md. Shafiqur Rahman, Ambassador of Bangladesh to Nepal, highlighted the long-standing friendly relations between Bangladesh and Nepal and the growing cooperation in the education sector, particularly in medical education. He stated that Bangladesh has emerged as a trusted destination for international medical students due to its quality education, modern medical infrastructure, extensive clinical exposure, affordable tuition fees, and internationally recognized degrees.

The Ambassador further mentioned that Bangladesh’s medical curriculum and examination system is based on the Canadian model, which he described as superior to other South Asian systems. He also emphasized that similarities in language and social environment make Nepali students feel comfortable while studying in Bangladesh.

He noted that a significant number of Nepali doctors have graduated from Bangladeshi medical institutions and are contributing remarkably to Nepal’s healthcare sector. According to him, the quality of postgraduate medical education in Bangladesh is highly valued worldwide. He reaffirmed the Embassy’s commitment to strengthening educational cooperation and people-to-people connectivity between the two friendly nations.

During the program, the Secretary-General of BPMCA delivered a detailed presentation on Bangladesh’s medical education system, academic standards, curriculum structure, clinical training, and student support services. The former President of BPMCA also addressed the audience, highlighting the association’s role in maintaining educational quality and promoting international academic collaboration.

The fair attracted an encouraging response, with more than 500 Nepali students attending the event. It was widely appreciated by students, parents, and members of the academic community as a timely and informative initiative.

On the sidelines of the event, the BPMCA delegation also paid a courtesy visit to Dr. Bikash Devkota, Secretary at the Ministry of Health and Population of Nepal and Acting Chairman of the Nepal Medical Council (NMC).
