Sri Lankan Food Festival Inaugurated at Vivanta Hotel

    EDUCAST, The aromatic essence of Ceylon spices and the vibrant culinary traditions of the island nation officially took center stage as the “Flavours of Sri Lanka” Food Week was inaugurated at Vivanta Hotel. The week-long celebration, scheduled to run from April 12 to 18, 2026, opened at the hotel’s MYNT Restaurant with a ceremonial ribbon-cutting by the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Nepal, Her Excellency Ruwanthi Delpitiya. This festival aims to further strengthen the cultural and diplomatic ties between Nepal and Sri Lanka through the universal language of food.

    The inauguration ceremony was attended by a distinguished gathering, including diplomats from various nations, leaders of the Chamber of Commerce, and prominent business figures. In addition to the ribbon-cutting, Ambassador Delpitiya performed the traditional lighting of the oil lamp, a gesture symbolizing prosperity and friendship. During her address, she noted that the event is more than just a food exhibition; it serves as a vital platform for enhancing people-to-people connections and promoting tourism between the two countries.

    The festival features Sri Lanka’s world-renowned Ceylon spices, coconut-infused delicacies, and fresh seafood. Guests can enjoy a wide array of authentic dishes, including the popular Kottu Roti, Hoppers (Appam), and traditional Rice and Curry. For those with a sweet tooth, the menu includes heritage desserts such as Watalappam, Kavum, and Kokis. According to Vivanta Hotel, extensive preparations have been made to ensure an authentic gastronomic experience, offering food enthusiasts a unique and unforgettable taste of Sri Lankan heritage throughout the week.
