15th Graduation Ceremony of GATE College Celebrated Excellence in Hospitality Education

    EDUCAST, GATE College held its 15th Graduation Ceremony at the Soaltee Hotel in Kathmandu, marking a significant milestone in the institution’s commitment to producing world-class professionals in the hospitality and tourism sectors. The event was graced by distinguished guests, including H.E. Dr. Danielle Meuwly, Ambassador of Switzerland to Nepal; Ms. Manisha Koirala, renowned author, award-winning actor, and philanthropist; Mr. Sudharshan Chapagain, Chairman of GATE College; Dr. Durgesh Man Singh, diplomat and economist; and Mr. Tara Jang Thapa, Acting Academic Dean.

    Program Highlights

    The ceremony commenced with the emcee announcing the graduating students, followed by the introduction of the esteemed guests. The national anthems of Nepal and Switzerland were played, symbolizing the strong ties between the two nations. The program was officially inaugurated through the lighting of the Panas by H.E. Dr. Danielle Meuwly and Mr. Sudharshan Chapagain.

    A significant moment of the ceremony was the launch of the Source Book, a comprehensive publication highlighting the achievements and contributions of GATE College. Mr. Sudharshan Chapagain delivered the welcome speech, emphasizing the institution’s dedication to excellence in hospitality education. A recorded message from Dr. Juan Francisco Perellon, Chief Academic Officer of École hôtelière de Lausanne (EHL), underscored the global recognition of GATE College’s programs.

    Dr. Durgesh Man Singh shared insights on behalf of the GATE Academic Board, while Mr. Kanav Mat, Director and Regional Head (South Asia, Myanmar & Middle East) of EHL, delivered a keynote address on the evolving landscape of hospitality education. Ms. Manisha Koirala also addressed the gathering, inspiring graduates with her words of wisdom and encouragement.

    The ceremony featured recorded messages from Prof. Dr. Peter Jones, Chair of the GATE Academic Council, and Mr. Sudarshan Poudel, a GATE alumnus and hospitality entrepreneur, who shared their experiences and perspectives on the hospitality industry.

    H.E. Dr. Danielle Meuwly delivered the keynote address, highlighting the importance of international collaboration in fostering growth in the hospitality sector. The oath-taking ceremony was led by Mr. Tara Jang Thapa, reinforcing the commitment of the graduates to uphold the values and standards of the industry.

    Certification Distribution and Recognition

    A highlight of the event was the distribution of certificates to the graduates. H.E. Dr. Danielle Meuwly presented certificates to the graduates, symbolizing their achievements. Mr. Sudharshan Chapagain awarded medals, Ms. Manisha Koirala presented roses, Dr. Durgesh Man Singh bestowed pride pins, and Mr. Tara Jang Thapa offered handshakes, each gesture representing a unique form of recognition for the graduates’ hard work and dedication.
