EDUCAST, The 2nd Inter-College Girls’ Basketball Tournament 2025 concluded today at the Royal Basketball Academy, SanoGaun, Siddhipur, with GoldenGate International College clinching the championship title. Xavier International College secured the First Runner-Up position, while Landmark Academy finished as the Second Runner-Up after an impressive final day of competition.
The tournament was jointly organized by Professional Education Consultancy (PEC) and the Australian Catholic University (ACU). PEC, which has been providing educational services for over 32 years, has remained consistently active in promoting women-focused sports initiatives for nearly two decades. The organization has been highly engaged in creating opportunities in women’s cricket and basketball, contributing significantly to empowerment through sports.
Nepal Women’s National Cricket Team Captain, Ms. Indu Barma—who currently serves as PEC’s Brand Ambassador—reflects PEC’s continued commitment to uplifting women athletes in Nepal.
The opening ceremony featured Ms. Anushka Shrestha, representative of ACU in Nepal, as the Chief Guest. In her remarks, she emphasized the importance of giving girls strong platforms and equal opportunities in sports, highlighting the role sports play in building leadership, confidence, and discipline.
Similarly, Mr. Raju Singh, Director of Sales and Marketing at PEC, shared that PEC has not only focused on education but also continuously invested in social development, especially women empowerment through sports activities. He reiterated the organization’s dedication to supporting young female athletes.
This year’s tournament saw record participation, with eight girls’ teams from Kathmandu competing—marking the highest involvement since the tournament began. The presence of players from the Nepal Women’s National Basketball Team further boosted enthusiasm, motivation, and confidence among participants.
The week-long tournament was held from December 1 to December 7, 2025. Organizers have announced plans to continue hosting the event annually, expecting it to play a meaningful role in strengthening women’s sports, leadership development, and youth empowerment in the coming years.
