Chef Padam Ale Magar Elected President of Chefs Association of Nepal

    EDUCAST, Chef Padam Bahadur Ale Magar has been elected as the new President of the Chefs Association of Nepal (CAN). He secured 156 votes to win the presidency at the Association’s 31st Annual General Meeting and Election, held on Saturday for a two-year term. His closest rival, Thakur Prasad Poudel, received 138 votes.

    The newly elected office bearers are:

    • First Vice President: Prem Bahadur Thapa Magar
    • Vice President: Sunil Tamang
    • General Secretary: Rajkumar Lama
    • Secretary: Ram Krishna Thapa (elected unopposed)
    • Treasurer: Laxman Tamang

    Executive Committee Members:
    Padam Bahadur Magar, Indra Bahadur Aryal, Shriraj KC, Akbar Syangtan (Kumar Lama), Raj Bahadur Thapa, Jit Moktan, Saroj Kumar Lama, Kamal Prasad Shrestha, and Om Shankar Maharjan.

    In his statement, President-elect Ale Magar said his leadership will focus on the development, identity, and international promotion of authentic Nepali cuisine, while modernizing culinary practices to be more systematic, scientific, and globally competitive. He also emphasized using Nepali food as a tool of cultural diplomacy.

    Outgoing President Resham Kumar Lama Tamang informed that the oath-taking ceremony for the newly elected team will be held on Monday.

    Established in 1996 (2053 B.S.), the Chefs Association of Nepal works to protect the rights and interests of Nepali chefs working in Nepal and abroad. The Association currently has more than 1,500 members, including chefs employed in star hotels and restaurants worldwide.
