EDUCAST, The French Embassy in Nepal and the Alliance Française have officially inaugurated Micro-Folie, a pioneering digital cultural platform at the Alliance Française in Pulchowk, Lalitpur. The innovative project offers free access to thousands of digitized artworks from some of the world’s most prestigious museums, making art and culture more accessible to the Nepali public.

Supported by the French Ministry of Culture and coordinated by La Villette, Micro-Folie brings together over 5,000 masterpieces from 12 globally renowned institutions, including the Louvre Museum, Musée d’Orsay, Centre Pompidou, and Château de Versailles.

Her Excellency Virginie Corteval, Ambassador of France to Nepal, inaugurated the facility amid an enthusiastic gathering of art enthusiasts, educators, and cultural representatives. Speaking at the event, she described Micro-Folie as “a unique opportunity for people in Nepal to immerse themselves in art and shared human heritage.”

The platform provides a rich, interactive experience through digital displays, enabling visitors to explore paintings, sculptures, historical artifacts, and architectural wonders from around the world. It represents a bridge between technology and art, allowing Nepali audiences to engage with international culture from a local venue.

Two public sessions will be organized each week at the Alliance Française, offering interactive activities for families, students, and cultural associations. The initiative seeks to encourage art appreciation, education, and cultural exchange, strengthening Franco-Nepali ties in arts and education.

With the introduction of Micro-Folie, Nepal now joins a growing international network of digital museums, marking a new milestone in cultural diplomacy and collaboration between France and Nepal.
