EDUCAST, The Ambassador of Pakistan to Nepal, H.E. Abrar H. Hashmi, conducted an official visit to Lumbini and Bharatpur from 30 November to 2 December 2025, highlighting cultural, heritage, and healthcare cooperation between the two nations.
During his visit to Lumbini, the revered birthplace of Lord Buddha, Ambassador Hashmi paid homage and interacted with representatives of the Lumbini Development Board and the officiating Mayor of Lumbini. Discussions centered on fostering heritage linkages, strengthening cultural ties, and deepening civic relations between Pakistan and Nepal.
Continuing his travel to Bharatpur, Ambassador Hashmi handed over a cheque to support the paperless digitization of the Bharatpur Eye Hospital (BEH) as a gift from the People of Pakistan. The contribution is aimed at helping BEH enhance its infrastructure through a modern Electronic Health Record (EHR) system, enabling full digital management of clinical and administrative services.
Ambassador Hashmi recalled Pakistan’s longstanding partnership with BEH, which was originally built in 1987 with the financial support of the BCCI Foundation of Pakistan. Over the years, the Pakistan Embassy has continued to assist the hospital by supporting the pharmacy, operating theaters, outreach ambulance services, and facilitating medical cooperation and exchanges in eye care.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, the Ambassador emphasized that healthcare collaboration remains a key pillar of Pakistan–Nepal relations. He added that such people-centric initiatives embody the mutual commitment of the two nations toward enhancing public welfare and regional development.
Chairman of the BEH Management Board, Mr. Jayram Shrestha, and Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Pushpa Giri, expressed profound gratitude to the People of Pakistan for their sustained support and contribution to strengthening Nepal’s healthcare services.
The Embassy also hosted a dinner reception at Bharatpur Garden Hotel, attended by BEH leadership, faculty members, local administration officials, community representatives, business leaders, and alumni of Pakistani institutions.
Additionally, Ambassador Hashmi visited the College of Medical Sciences in Chitwan, where he interacted with faculty and students, acknowledging the institution’s role in imparting quality medical and TVET education.
