Second Inter-College Girls’ Basketball Tournament Kicked Off in Kathmandu

    EDUCAST, The 2nd Inter-College Girls’ Basketball Tournament 2025 officially kicked off today at the Royal Basketball Academy in Sano Gaun, Siddhipur. The tournament is jointly organized by Professional Education Consultancy (PEC), a renowned education consultancy with more than 32 years of service, and the Australian Catholic University (ACU).

    For nearly two decades, PEC has been actively supporting the advancement of women’s sports in Nepal, particularly in cricket and basketball. The organization continues to uphold its long-standing commitment to empowering young women by creating opportunities in athletics and social development. Nepal Women’s National Cricket Team Captain, Ms. Indu Barma, currently serves as PEC’s Brand Ambassador, reflecting the institution’s dedication to female athletes.

    The Opening Ceremony featured Ms. Anushka Shrestha, Representative of Australian Catholic University in Nepal, as the Chief Guest. In her remarks, she highlighted the importance of providing strong platforms and equal opportunities for girls in sports, noting how sports contribute significantly to leadership and confidence-building.

    Mr. Raju Singh, Director of Sales and Marketing at PEC, emphasized the organization’s ongoing contributions to social development alongside its core educational services, reaffirming PEC’s commitment to promoting women’s sports in Nepal.

    A record eight girls’ teams from various colleges across Kathmandu are participating this year, marking the highest level of engagement since the tournament’s inception. The presence of athletes from the Nepal Women’s National Basketball Team further elevated the enthusiasm and motivation among the young players.

    The tournament will run from December 1 to December 7, 2025, and organizers have announced plans to continue the event annually. The tournament is expected to play a meaningful role in strengthening women’s sports, leadership, and empowerment in the coming years.
