EDUCAST, The third investment conference in Kathmandu commenced with a resounding call for economic development projects, spearheaded by Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ in a special inauguration ceremony today.

The conference, aimed at attracting foreign direct investment to Nepal, is poised to drive the establishment of factories and industries across the country. With 151 projects showcased for potential investment, the event has drawn the participation of over 1,600 investors hailing from more than 55 countries.

Among the conference highlights are 23 exhibition rooms meticulously curated to provide detailed insights into the investment projects on offer. Additionally, a program to solicit letters of intent for 19 projects further underscores the commitment to fostering investment opportunities in Nepal.

Chandra Prasad Dhakal, President of the Federation of Nepal Chamber of Commerce and Industry, echoed the sentiment of harnessing Nepal’s untapped potential across various sectors, emphasizing the need for both foreign and domestic investments to drive economic growth.

Addressing the gathering of global investors, Dhakal underscored Nepal’s strategic position between economic giants China and India, highlighting the immense opportunities for market leverage, tourism, and development.

Furthermore, Dhakal emphasized the critical role of skilled manpower in driving Nepal’s economic agenda forward, advocating for investments in education and technical training to address the shortage of skilled labor and boost remittance inflows from abroad.

In line with efforts to create an investment-friendly environment, Dhakal commended the Nepal government’s recent amendments to outdated laws perceived as obstacles to investment. The approval of the Bilateral Investment framework further augments the security of foreign investments, fostering a conducive investment climate.

As the conference unfolds, it serves as a pivotal platform for stakeholders to explore and capitalize on the diverse investment opportunities the country has to offer. With a focus on implementing economic development projects and attracting foreign direct investment, Nepal is poised to embark on a transformative journey towards sustainable growth and prosperity.
