EDUCAST, The Embassy of Pakistan organized a special program on 5 February 2026 to mark Kashmir Solidarity Day. The program featured a talk on the theme “Regional Peace and Stability in South Asia: Resolving the Kashmir Issue as a Prerequisite.”
The event was attended by journalists, writers, friends of Kashmir, and human rights activists. Messages from the President, Prime Minister, and Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister of Pakistan were read out during the program.
In his message, President Asif Ali Zardari reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support for the Kashmiri people’s just struggle for the right to self-determination in accordance with relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions. He emphasized that lasting peace in South Asia is not possible without a just and peaceful resolution of the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir dispute and urged the international community to ensure a free and impartial plebiscite.
Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif reiterated Pakistan’s principled moral, diplomatic, and political support for the Kashmiri people. He stated that India’s illegal and unilateral actions of 5 August 2019 had further aggravated the political and human rights situation in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
In his message, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar highlighted widespread human rights violations, arbitrary detentions, and the suppression of political and media freedoms in the occupied territory. He called upon the international community to ensure the implementation of United Nations Security Council resolutions on Kashmir.
Addressing the gathering, Ambassador Abrar H Hashmi stressed that peace and stability in South Asia cannot be achieved without resolving the Kashmir dispute. He reaffirmed that international law and United Nations resolutions provide a clear framework for the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination and rejected the legitimacy of any unilateral measures imposed by India.
The program concluded with calls for meaningful dialogue and enhanced international efforts to highlight the Kashmir issue, emphasizing that a just resolution of the dispute is essential for regional peace and stability.
