Rotary Club of Bagmati Kathmandu Successfully Hosts Inter-College Speech Competition 2026

    EDUCAST, On the occasion of Rotary Day, February 23, 2026, the Rotary Club of Bagmati Kathmandu, in collaboration with Southwestern State College, Kathmandu, and co-host partner clubs — Rotary Club of Balaju, Rotary Club of Changu, Rotary Club of Gongabu, Rotary Club of Hetauda, Rotary Club of Kathmandu Circle, Rotary Club of Kathmandu Height, Rotary Club of Patan, and Rotary Club of Yala — successfully conducted its signature program, the Inter-College Speech Competition 2026, centered on Rotary’s 4-Way Test. The competition highlighted the importance of ethical leadership, social responsibility, and personality development among participating students.

    The program was held at the auditorium of Southwestern State College in the gracious presence of District Governor Rtn Binod Koirala, First Lady Bhiba Koirala, PDG Rtn Chintamani Bhattarai, district officials, fellow Rotarians, presidents of various Rotary clubs, and enthusiastic students from different universities. The chief guest delivered the opening address, emphasizing the significance of moral values, leadership, and community service for young participants.

    The welcome address was presented by Ms. Sarita Shakya Pradhan, International Relations Coordinator and Academic Coordinator at Southwestern State College. The event was also graced by Campus Chief Rajendra KC and President of Rotary Club of Bagmati, Rtn Saroj Bajracharya, along with representatives of the co-host clubs. Students presented their speeches within a five-minute timeframe, demonstrating clarity, confidence, and critical thinking. The distinguished judging panel included Rtn Jayandra Rimal (RC Dillibazar), Rtn Nugal Anand Vaidya (RC Kathmandu Circle), Rtn Sushma Sharma (RC Kathmandu), Dr. Shipra Jha, and Mr. Hari Krishna Lamichhane (Southwestern State College). Toastmasters Rtn Rama Kandel, Adwait Thapa, and Santosh Tulachan facilitated smooth execution of the program.

    The competition concluded with the announcement of winners: 1st Place went to Shreya Poudel from The SA College, 2nd Place to Sushil Chapagain from Southwestern State College, 3rd Place to Omnika Basnet from Divya College, while consolation prizes were awarded to Abigya Belbase from Kathmandu University School of Medical Sciences and Rajani Patel from The Himalayan White House International College. All participants received certificates of participation.

    The program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Rtn Vijay Sagar Pradhan of Rotary Club of Bagmati. Organizers expressed heartfelt appreciation to all co-host clubs, judges, and Rotarians whose collaborative efforts made the event a grand success. The competition not only provided a platform for students to enhance public speaking skills and confidence but also promoted the core values of Rotary’s 4-Way Test among young leaders, making it an inspiring and meaningful celebration of talent and ethical leadership.
