EDUCAST, The Embassy of Israel in Nepal facilitated a two-week volunteer mission of Heroes for Life, an Israeli NGO, bringing 68 young Israeli volunteers to the Kathmandu Valley and the Tulasi Foundation in Lalitpur.

The delegation was split into two groups of 34 volunteers each, who worked across eight government and public schools. This year, the initiative expanded its reach by including three additional schools. Volunteers honored the memory of First Sergeant Amit Most, who was killed in the October 7 Hamas terrorist attack, and Tamar Ariel, who tragically died while trekking in Nepal’s Annapurna region.

The mission focused on two main areas: introducing fun, creative learning activities that encouraged students to think outside the box, and renovating schools by painting classrooms and creating artistic murals. Each year, Heroes for Life returns to the same schools with new volunteers, ensuring continuity and sustainable impact while also adding new schools to the program.

Beyond classrooms, the volunteers dedicated a full day to community service at the Tulasi Foundation, an organization in Lalitpur led by Saru Subedi, a Nepali who previously worked in Israel. The Israeli team spent meaningful time with children under the foundation’s care and helped with renovation and painting works.

Ambassador of Israel to Nepal, Shmulik Arie Bass, expressed pride in the heartfelt participation of the volunteers and Nepali institutions. He stated, “Israel will always be ready to assist Nepal. Giving to friends means much more to us, Israelis.”

Since 2017, Heroes for Life has been conducting volunteer missions in Nepal, alongside its global operations in 18 countries. The organization channels the dedication of Israeli soldiers, who after completing military service, pause their personal journeys to contribute their time, energy, and talents to communities abroad. This mission once again reinforced the strong people-to-people connection and enduring friendship between Nepal and Israel.
