EDUCAST, The “Flavours of Sri Lanka” Food Festival concluded successfully at MYNT Restaurant, Vivanta Hotel, Lalitpur, with the aim of promoting Sri Lanka’s distinctive flavors and authentic culinary traditions.
The festival was officially inaugurated on April 12 by the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Nepal, H.E. Ruwanthie Delpitiya, who marked the opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony followed by the traditional lighting of the oil lamp. The opening ceremony was attended by Heads of Diplomatic Missions, leaders from chambers of commerce, and prominent members of the business community.
Speaking on the occasion, Ambassador Delpitiya emphasized that the festival was not merely a culinary showcase but also an important platform to strengthen people-to-people connections and promote tourism between Nepal and Sri Lanka.
Held from April 12 to 18, the week-long festival offered guests an authentic taste of Sri Lankan cuisine, featuring dishes prepared with renowned Ceylon spices, coconut, and fresh seafood. Signature items such as Kottu Roti, Hoppers (Appam), and Rice and Curry, along with traditional desserts like Watalappam, Kavum, and Kokis, were among the highlights.
The menu was specially curated by Chef Prashantha Gunasekara from Taj Samudra, Colombo, showcasing the richness and diversity of Sri Lankan gastronomy.
According to the organizers, the festival served as a meaningful platform to promote Sri Lanka’s culture, hospitality, and culinary heritage, while further strengthening cultural and tourism ties between the two countries. The event concluded successfully after a vibrant week-long celebration of Sri Lankan cuisine.
